Located in Northumberland, this modern architectural project is a study of sustainable living.
Dubbed the Ghyllheugh Lake House, the home’s setting is a peaceful pastoral one overlooking a lake, and the house is designed to preserve the very nature that surrounds it through ecologically responsible materials, building practices and a lifestyle to follow.
The house is innovative, forward thinking – a first in the concept of PPS7 ( now para 80 of the Planning Policy outlining residential development in rural areas)
The residence is composed of 2 volumes forming an L shape, connected via a footbridge. The wood walls provide insulation, finished with a thermal insulation coating. Details will also include low emission double glazed windows, a greywater recycling system, and active and passive solar energy.
This contemporary home dons a soft natural guise that is designed to harmonise with its lovely lakeside setting. The project was the first PPS7 house in Northumberland to gain planning permission.
