Joanna Pullan and David Davies from our Newcastle studio were delighted to attend the RIBA North East Research and Innovation Symposium hosted by Newcastle University last Friday. Promoting and building links between practices and the research work of Newcastle and Northumbria Universities, the day was an engaging mix of talks, interactive workshops and presentations about innovative research currently taking place across the North East.
The event was a good opportunity to catch up with existing contacts as well as meeting fellow practitioners, and academics who are using their projects to explore a variety of themes and ideas.
David Davies, Associate and learning lead for the practice commented ‘With a number of our team already working with, or studying at the Universities we have a strong sense of the quality of academic research currently taking place within our region. This event was exciting as it was a real showcase for some of the more creative and imaginative research ideas being explored, and has inspired us to bring even more of our research interests from our project work to an academic audience’.
