Cosentino HQ and Factory Tour

Cosentino HQ and Factory Tour

8 June 2023

This week three members of our team were invited to visit the Cosentino HQ in Almeria, Spain. Charlotte Allan and Beth Winter from our interiors partner Design North and Jess Everall from the Sadler Brown team flew out with Nazia Uddin from Cosentino for a busy few days learning about the Cosentino company and products.

Cosentino

Cosentino are a family owned business, founded in 1940 by the Cosentino brothers quarrying marble in Macael and have grown ever since to become a global company supplying their products all over the world. Our team stood on the edge of the quarry where the Macael marble is extracted and cut using diamond wires until small enough to transport. The marble is then taken to the site of Cosentinos factories and broken down to be mixed with a range of other (top secret) naturally derived ingredients to form their range of products – Silestone, Dekton, Sensa and Scalea. The team were shown every step of the factory procedure from the slabs being baked at 1250 degrees Celsius to being hand cut and finished by their team of artisans, following which the products undergo vigorous quality control and then finally shipped around the world to their millions of satisfied customers.

Products

Cosentino have designed four distinctive brands which sit within their umbrella; Silestone; Dekton; Sensa and Scalea. Our team were able to view and discuss the latest colours and technologies for each product with experts giving them insight and ideas for current and upcoming projects. Thanks to the durability and range of each material, the products can be used in an infinite number of applications.

The Trip

Also on the trip were Iain Hunter, General Manager at Cosentino, Ollie Stapleton, Director of Acura Living and George Jenkins, Director of Modo Bloc. The trip was a brilliant opportunity for our team to get a more in depth understanding of Cosentinos products and their applications and to network with other design professionals.
