Prospect Place Wins Best Residential Development at RICS Regional Awards

The North East’s leading property professionals gathered at the Crowne Plaza Hotel in Newcastle last night for the RICS Regional Awards, celebrating excellence across the build environment.

The RICS Awards are regarded as one of the industry’s most prestigious regional accolades, celebrating projects that deliver positive social, environmental and economic impact. Shortlisted developments are assessed against rigorous criteria, including design quality, sustainability, innovation, community benefit and overall project delivery.

Architects Group attended as a guest of Tyne Housing, for their design of Prospect Place, a new supported housing development in Gateshead.  Prospect Place is a 20-unit single person supported accommodation with staff and support facilities on site, enabling residents to live in a safe place with guidance and assistance, helping to regain their independence. The scheme was developed from the traditional Tyneside flat typology, reinterpreting this familiar vernacular to provide each resident with their own front door – promoting autonomy and a sense of ownership.

Prospect Place was nominated for Best Residential Development and was delivered for the client, Tyne Housing, alongside BRIMS Construction, Portland Consulting Engineers, Kyoob (M&E), Hall & Partners and with the support from Gateshead Council and funding from Homes England.

The project won best Residential Development with the judges comments reflecting on how the development overcame significant challenges in terms of the site conditions, from slope stability and contamination issues and resulted in a considered and meaningful scheme.

Although competition was strong across every category, Prospect Place’s nomination and successful win, reflects the quality of the project and the collaborative efforts of everyone involved in its delivery. Recognition by the RICS Awards reinforces the development’s place among the region’s most notable residential schemes and underlines the expertise of the project team in creating homes that respond to both present and future needs.
