Daresbury Hall Estate in Cheshire is Granted Unanimous Planning Approval

6 March 2025

Landscape Masterplan – Barnes Walker Ltd

Architects-Group are pleased to announce that their Daresbury Hall Estate residential development has been granted unanimous Planning Approval.

This project was a challenge from the outset, trying to obtain planning permission for a Grade II* Listed building set within the Cheshire Green Belt. However, with expert guidance from Planning Consultants, Pegasus Group, our client was able to construct a highly considered conservation masterplan proposal which responded to the estates historic grain set within the grounds of the listed Daresbury Hall.

Whilst Architects-Group developed the complimentary character areas and new build house-types for the project, Mason Gillibrand Conservation Architects oversaw the restoration designs of the existing listed buildings, with Barnes Walker developed the overall landscape masterplan designs. The whole design team worked collaboratively to produce a cohesive design, both sensitive to the heritage of the site and integrating contemporary design principles to provide 14 new dwellings within existing buildings and 31 new-build dwellings across the estates grounds.

Architects-Group developed character areas based on traditional typologies within a country house estate, these included, The Home Farm, The Almshouses, The Cottages and The Walled Gardens signature areas. Each character area contains bespoke executive homes, appropriate for their setting and designed to be luxury residences within an opulent and truly unique country estate.

Project design architect Chloe Ashurst commenting after the committee meeting,

“We are delighted such a stunning development has been granted Planning Approval and can’t wait to see the family homes start to take shape on site later this year.”
