The North East property sector gathered at the Hilton Gateshead on 7 May 2026 for the region’s annual Insider Media property awards, celebrating the projects, companies and professionals shaping the built environment across the North East. Several members of our team attended, representing both Architects Group and Design North for various projects shortlisted for awards.
Architects Group were shortlisted for Prospect Place in Pelaw, nominated in the ‘Residential Development of the Year’ category. Delivered in collaboration with Tyne Housing, Portland Consulting Engineers and Brims Construction, the supported housing development forms part of a wider initiative involving Gateshead Council and Homes England to address homelessness through the provision of high-quality, long-term accommodation. Attending on their behalf was Managing Director, Tony Harmieson and Architectural Director, Dan Cogdon.
Design North also received recognition for its work on Parkdean Resorts’ new headquarters at Gosforth Business Park. Delivered alongside Architects Group, Lantern Building Consultancy, Kinetic Engineers, Sweco Building Control and Chameleon Business Interiors, the project was shortlisted for its contribution to the region’s evolving workplace sector. Attending on behalf of Design North was Director, Scott Stewart and Associate Interior Designer, Charlotte Allan.
However, the evening’s top honour ultimately went to the Stephenson Building, which won ‘Property Refurbishment of the Year’. Design North played a key role in the project team, working on the interior design for the building for RIBA stages 0-4, contributing to the delivery of the award-winning scheme.
The shortlist and award win together underline the strength of design talent within the North East, with both Architects Group and Design North recognised for their commitment to delivering high-quality, people-focused projects across the region.
